Hi all, I know this is a lot of pictures that I've been posting lately, but the last few weekends have been unexpectedly productive for me, photography-wise. This last weekend I signed up to get a tour of the Alaska Way Viaduct, which normally is not accessible to pedestrians. The viaduct is in some amount of trouble, it's built on fill, and has been sinking slowly ever since the 2001 Nisqually earthquake. They shut the whole thing down twice a year for inspections and during this time they have a few limited tours. I've done the tour before, it lasts maybe an hour, and is interesting, the time is spent talking about the structural issues, as well as potential ways of handling them, and the accompanying politics. This year I paid very little attention to the tour itself and used the entire thing as an opportunity to get some interesting photographs. Enjoy! Tags: alaska way viaduct, images
