Health Update
Hello all,

  Saw my Rhuematologist again today.

1) He said that I do not have Ankylosing Spondylitis,  the spine xrays I took would have shown it if I had,  and they aren't showing that.
2)  I do however have a congenital defect with my spine,  there is some sort of fibrous material that connects the lowest vertebre to my pelvis,  this restricts movement there and causes pain.
3)  My second test for Lyme disease came back positive,  so the Rheumatologist believes I have that.  If so,  a few interesting things are true.
    a)  I am the first person in the state of Washington to have Lyme disease.
    b)  The medication that he might have otherwise put me on,  and immune system suppressant,  would not be good for me to have with Lyme Disease currently in me.
    c)  Lyme is treatable.  It will go away and not bother me once I'm done with it,  and I'm already on medication for it..

So in all,  I think,  good news for me,  I hope.  Unless there is something even stranger that no one has guessed at yet,  prospects for my future are good.  it is a little difficult at this point to hope that this will all go away simply and easily, considering how difficult the path has been so far.  Nonetheless,  I'm feeling happy and hopeful today.  :)

[EDIT]

Bah!  According to the Center for Disease Control,  I'm not by far the first person in the state of Washington to contract Lyme disease.  There were at least 13 people in 2005 in Washington.  This just means it's exceedingly rare,  not unheard of.  :)

Quoth Wikipedia: "Other, less common findings in acute Lyme disease include cardiac manifestations (up to 10% of patients may have cardiac manifestations including heart block and palpitations), neurologic symptoms (neuroborreliosis may occur in up to 18%), as well as simple altered mental status as the sole presenting symptom has been reported in early neuroborreliosis."

So, it's interesting that you didn't get a job offer until after this started. Which leads me to wonder: does the tick get a cut of the finder's fee?

Finder's fee? yeah. If I find the tick, I'll give him a fee alright. :)

So were you like hiking and a tick got you?

According to teh intarwebs, (always a trustworthy and reliable source of medication information), the only way in which Lyme disease can be spread is by tick.

As this relates to me, I was in Eastern Washington the weekend before I started to get ill. I was spending the weekend at a cabin on Lake Newman, just north of Spokane. There are lots of trees in the area, and I did walk through some underbrush, but not much. I never found a tick on me, and 70% of those who get Lyme experience a red bullseye pattern on their skin. I never did. However, I have now twice tested positive for Lyme, so the conclusion from that is I was exposed to the disease at some point. Crazy, eh?

How's work?

Come to my birthday party! :)
