And then up into the Mountains.

Tomorrow I leave for Chicago for a week.  I'll post set 3 when I return.

Hello readers.

A few days ago I took my camera and headed out North and somewhat East of Seattle,  to the small mountain town of Darrington.  Here is what I captured along the way.

A few notes.

Only the 4th image is edited,  but fairly heavily so.  The last image requires being clicked on to make larger in order to understand what is happening with it.

There are two more parts to come.

Oops, nearly forgot to post today.

Props to my mother, by the way,  who sent me the bouquet of flowers/leaves on my birthday back in October.  It sat around for a while,  and I finally photographed it before getting rid of it,  since everything had long since died.  The gift was cool though.  :) -Rafe

Hi all, Recently I did some macro work. The best part about shooting macro photography is that your photos all tend to come out looking great.  The worst part of shooting macro photography is the same thing,  it take a lot of effort to move beyond the great into the truly extraordinary. I'm not sure I succeeded with any of my shots,  but I did have fun.  Enjoy!

I'll stick with LJ for the time being.

Readers be warned: Even if I did have a paid account, which I don't, you'd still be hit with ads as you're looking at my page. Sorry, and just be patient. :(

At least twice while accessing my own journal, or while logged in, I have been subjected to ads which black out the LJ screen, pop up in the middle of the screen, and force me to wait until a video loads before I am able to cancel the ad off the screen.

Apparently LJ has decided that they would prefer to shit on the users who have made LJ what it is today.

If anyone can think of a good reason why I should not abandon LJ entirely, please speak up now.

Hello!

Thanksgiving postcards, part 2.

I have to say, I'm particularly fond of the pumpkin apocalypse. In part because I had to cross a busy highway to get it, and got honked at while I shooting it, and only shot 3 images of the scene, but also in part because it just seems so evocative of the end of fall and the onset of winter in the Pacific Northwest. These are the rejected pumpkins, the ones that didn't get picked out of the field for Halloween jack 'o lanterns. They were just left to rot, and the field flooded. It's not autumn any more, folks, it's winter.

Finally, this last shot was taken in my shower. I'm going to title it something like, "steamy," or "sex" or something like that. :)

PS. You know, now that I look at that last shot again, I think there should be a hand pressed up against the other side of the glass. That would be fun.

On Thanksgiving day, I hopped in my car and took off, headed Northward. I had a few places I wanted to check out, and I had in mind a pretty good idea of the sort of image I was looking for.

I didn't find it. I didn't even come anywhere close, and at one point I realized that being in search of "that image" was actually hindering me from doing what I do best, look around me and see the images that are already there. Once I stopped looking for something in particular, I found many interesting things to shoot. Here are some of them.

Since I went to the zoo anyway to do the steampunk shoot, I decided to spend some extra time afterwards walking around and seeing the animals. Here are my favorite shots:

My favorite by far is the last image, which really requires clicking on to make it large for the full impact. You should do that now.

PS. Okay, so the squirrel wasn't technically an animal in the zoo per se, although it was certainly in the zoo, and an animal. One who had become pretty accustomed to people feeding him.

Hi all,

A few weeks ago I did a Steampunk photoshoot at the Seattle Zoo. The Zoo has chosen which images they are going to use for their promotion, which leaves me free to post my work. Here are the best from the shoot.
